Number of homeless seniors spikes in Victoria: SFU study

After analyzing the  trends and patterns of homelessness in Greater Victoria a recent report finds seniors are disproportionately represented.

The Greater Victoria area is seeing a disproportionate amount of seniors chronically utilizing emergency shelters compared to other groups, according to a new Simon Fraser University study. A study on emergency shelter use patterns for the Greater Victoria Coalition to End Homelessness was led by SFU public policy program master’s student Hannah Rabinovitch was focused on a six-month period, but evaluated data that spanned four years.
