From November 1st to December 31st, Threshold Housing Society will be Shining a Light on Youth Homelessness.
In our region, there are more than 150 youth experiencing homelessness, with countless more couch surfing or living in unsafe housing situations. We believe that every youth deserves a safe home. We hope to spread awareness of the youth homelessness crisis occurring in our community and to raise funds so that we can continue to provide safe housing, support services, and community to at-risk youth.
On November 30th, Threshold Housing Society is hosting the 3rd annual Shine a Light on Youth Homelessness Winter Carnival in Bastion Square. We will have live music, hot chocolate, Christmas themed activities, and a tree lighting. We will have the Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps, Victoria Police Chief Del Manak, and British Columbia’s Representative for Children and Youth Dr. Jennifer Charlesworth join us to help us ‘flip the switch’ and shine a light on youth homelessness by lighting the largest tree in Bastion Square. We hope that this tree will serve as a beacon of light to the at-risk youth in our region, and as a sign that there is an entire community supporting them.

We have partnered with Silk Road Tea to create ‘12 days of tea’ gift boxes. These are available to purchase by visiting our office at 1524 Fort Street, emailing us at assist@thresholdhousing.ca, or calling us at 250-383-8830. These make the perfect gift during the holiday season and all proceeds come to Threshold Housing. Gift boxes are $20.00 each and all proceeds come to Threshold Housing and allow us to continue being able to provide safe housing, support services, and community to at-risk youth.
