Sexual Assault Response Team (SART)

Program Description
If you are aged 13+ and have experienced sexual assault (ANY form of unwanted sexual contact) within the last 30 days, you can access the Sexual Assault Response Team through the 24-hour Vancouver Island Crisis Line (1-888-494-3888) by requesting to speak to a VSAC Sexual Assault Response Team Support Worker or attend at the Victoria General Hospital. SART facilitates accompaniment to hospital, our specialized sexual assault clinic, and medical and police involvement as requested by survivor (Available up to 7 days after a sexual assault) and provides immediate emotional support and information to people of all genders.
SART is a collaborative response between Victoria Sexual Assault Centre, Forensic Nurse Examiners, Island Health, RCMP and the police. Our SART Support Workers include; Two Spirit, Trans (which may include trans women and femmes, and trans men and masculine people), Non-Binary, Gender Queer people, Intersex people, all people who do not identify with the gender they were assigned at birth, and cisgender women.
Medical Support:
Available up to 7 days after sexual assault.
Police Reporting Support:
Available up to 7 days after sexual assault, and if survivor is at the police station Sexual Assault Response Team Support Worker will always attend when requested, regardless of when sexual assault happened
