It seems that every year around this time we hear from the Cowichan Valley food banks that the pickings on the shelves are getting mighty slim, but the need for them isn’t. As the summer season comes along, people begin to think about vacations and barbecues which don’t seem to create the same prompt to fill the donation box that family Christmas suppers and a warm hearthside do.
